One Thousand Gifts
It's been a long while since I read the book "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp. However, I keep the book near to me on a shelf to grab when I want to feel inspired. I also have a journal that I started writing in after reading that book. It's a journal where I promised myself to write at least 1,000 gifts as I notice them. I LOVE reading what I've written over and over again. Reading them feels like a gift in itself.
Just to name a few of the things I've written in there:
29. The sigh of a tired dog
54. Crimson-colored Japanese Maple Leaves waving proudly in the breeze
59. Soft socks
92. Silly soapy bath giggles
128. Determined little hands building lego fortresses
227. Deep big brown curious Landry eyes
228. Madden's hugs around my neck
365. Sparkling ocean water
417. Deep renewal of anything and everything
I look at this ongoing list nearly every single day because its purpose to add to it causes me to unplug, slow down, and be present in the moment of all I see, feel, hear, smell, and sense. It's a wonderful practice to be in awe of all that God has created for our connectedness to Him and this world.
Look around, what gifts do you see?
